Vegetative Multiplication of Oregano (Origanum vulgare subsp. glandulosum desf.) Letswaart from Cuttings of Tunisian Wild Populations

Origanum vulgare L. subsp. Glandulosum (Desfontaines) Ietswaart is a medicinal and aromatic plant. It’s an endemic species to the Algerian and Tunisian areas (Alapetite, 1981). This plant is rare in Tunisia. Indeed, the populations are limited in number and area repartition. The aim of our study is to propagate Origanum glandulosum. For this reason, we carried out tests of its propagation via cuttings. Five populations sampled from Sejenane, Nefza, Zaghouan, Bargou and Krib. For the two populations Sejenane and Nefza, cuttings each one of 7 cm length were planted in two types of substrats, the pearlite and the compost, without any treatment. Each cutting was take from final or basal part of the mother plant, contain 3 to 4 nodes. Cuttings from others populations were planted only in the compost. The principal results obtained are: the rooting starts 12 days after planting and the average rate of rooting is 49.91 %. p>
